Preserving the Record of Fire History

Purpose: Remnant old fire-scarred trees (logs, stumps, snags, living trees) hold critical information about the past, but are disappearing rapidly due to decay and fire consumption. This Survey123 app is to be used by anyone to record old fire-scarred trees and stumps in the field. Your survey information goes into a centralized database and contributes to a national understanding of historical fire regimes and forest ecology. Information can be contributed by anyone for any location with a phone, tablet, or other smart device. See download instructions below.
